The Bangladesh national football team underwent their first training session lasting approximately one hour at Jakarta's ASIOP Stadium (ASTA) on Sunday evening in Indonesia.  

During the session, the team's Uruguayan fitness trainer, Rafael Campos, focused primarily on stretching and recovery exercises to help the players overcome travel fatigue.

National booters arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, to participate in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026. The team reached their hotel on Sunday at 10:30 AM (Bangladesh time). 

Team Bangladesh participated in their first training session in Jakarta at 7:00 PM (Bangladesh time).

Earlier, Bangladesh head coach Thomas Dooley named a 23-member squad for the upcoming FIFA ASEAN Cup in the upcoming international window.

Three new foreign-based players have been included in the squad, with the Bangladesh playing Malaysia, Singapore and host Indonesia. Farhaan, who plays for Boreham Wood on loan from Fulham Under-21, has been added to the attack, while Walton & Hersham’s Zidane Yousuf joins the list of defenders.

The team’s previously-recruited expats, Hamza Choudhury and Shamit Shome, will join the team in Indonesia.

USA-born goalkeeper Saif Kerawala, who was included in the preliminary squad, did not make the cut. Bangladesh will also be without defender Bishwanath Ghosh, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Bangladesh — with Pakistan being the other invitee — is one of the two teams invited to play in the tournament. It replaced India at the tournament, with the Blue Tigers facing Panama, Brazil and Uruguay in the upcoming window.

Bangladesh have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Bangladesh will begin its campaign against Malaysia on September 25, followed by a clash against Singapore three days later. It will end the group stage on October 1 against the host in Jakarta.

Group B consists of ASEAN Championship finalists Thailand and Vietnam, alongside the Philippines and Pakistan. Vietnam, who won the ASEAN Championship last month, will open their campaign against the Philippines in Bandung on September 26.

All three matches will be played at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
