National Baseball team begins tryout camp
A two-day open tryout camp to select players for the Bangladesh national men's baseball team began in Dhaka on Friday.
Mr. Afzalur Rahman, the esteemed President of the Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association (BBSA), officially inaugurated the camp at 9:00 AM on Friday at the National Stadium grounds in Gulistan.
Talented players from across the country participate in the national team selection process.
Also present on the occasion were BBSA Senior Vice-President Dr. Anupam Hossain, General Secretary Talha Zubair, and other association officials and members.
Approximately 90 skilled and interested players from across the country have registered and are participating in this national-level open tryout. Promising players are being selected for the national team based on an evaluation of their skills, physical fitness, and performance.
Held at the National Stadium with the support of the National Sports Council, this selection process is being conducted under the supervision of an evaluation committee appointed by the Council. The selection committee—comprising the national team's Japanese Head Coach Hiroki Watanabe, Japanese Coach Kurusu-san, and local coaches—is evaluating the players.
The second and final phase of the tryouts will take place tomorrow. Following the selection process, a national camp featuring the selected players will be organized next month. This camp will serve as preparation for Bangladesh's tour of Japan and its participation in the upcoming West Asia Cup Baseball tournament.
