Bangladesh started the five-match series against the Nepal national women's Kabaddi team with a flourish as the hosts beat Nepal by 34-24 points in the first match of the series held at the National Kabaddi Stadium in Dhaka today to take a 1-0 lead.

The Prime Minister's daughter Zaima Rahman was at the center of extra interest in this winning match for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh started playing aggressively against the Nepalese from the beginning of the match. The host girls put the opponent under pressure by taking a 14-10 point lead in the first half, remaining unwavering in their tactical attack and defense. Nepal tried hard to come back in the match in the second half, but could not do it. In the end, Bangladesh ended the game with a big win by 10 points. Bangladesh team captain Sraboni Mallick was adjudged the man of the match.

The match gained an extra dimension in the presence of the Prime Minister's daughter Jaima Rahman. At the beginning of the match, she participated in a courtesy meeting with the players of both teams. Then, at one point, she came down, overcoming the solemnity of the VIP box, and stood like a normal spectator and enjoyed the entire game.

She encouraged the players at every moment of the match. After the game, she herself called the Bangladesh team players. She exchanged greetings with them and was seen taking selfies with a smiling face as a part of the team's success. Such sincerity of Zaima Rahman has inspired the players greatly.

Earlier, the series was inaugurated by Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) and President of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation Md. Ali Hossain Fakir. He said, 'Kabaddi is an integral part of our national game and culture. Bangladesh's success in the international arena is the pride of our sporting heritage. I believe that this series between Bangladesh and Nepal will further strengthen the bridge of mutual respect and friendship between the players of the two countries.'

Additional Secretary (Sports) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Amena Begum, Director (Sports) of the National Sports Council Mohammad Aminul Ehsan were present at the event. General Secretary of the Kabaddi Federation SM Newaz Sohag and other officials of the federation were also present. The victory on the field and the extra enthusiasm of the gallery - all together, a festive atmosphere prevailed in the Kabaddi Stadium.
