The new ad-hoc committee of the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation has taken major initiatives to bring dynamism and a competitive edge back to the national sport, kabaddi. Several visionary plans, including a policy decision to resume domestic kabaddi leagues, were adopted during the committee's first meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation President Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, and conducted by the Federation's General Secretary and Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Israil Howlader.

The current state, challenges, and prospects of kabaddi in the country were discussed in detail during the meeting. Members noted that the absence of regular domestic leagues for a long period has reduced players' opportunities to play in competitive environments, thereby disrupting the continuity of nurturing new talent for the national team. To overcome this situation, utmost importance was given to resuming domestic leagues promptly and revitalizing club-based kabaddi activities.

According to the plans adopted in the meeting, talented players will be identified right from the grassroots level and brought under regular training. Additionally, regular tournaments at the district and upazila levels, talent hunt programs, and modern training camps will be organized. Skilled human resources will also be developed through special workshops and training sessions for competent coaches and referees. The meeting placed special emphasis on organizing regular age-group competitions to make the new generation more interested in the national sport.

​Officials of the federation expressed optimism that the implementation of these initiatives will restore the lost heritage of kabaddi. The resumption of domestic leagues will reactivate club-based competitions, provide players with opportunities to play regular matches, and pave a smoother path for producing skilled and strong players for the national team. It was announced at the end of the meeting that various other developmental programs will be implemented phased-wise to establish the country's kabaddi arena on a strong framework.

A. Hafiz, Md. Khokon Mia, Zillur Rahman, Shahnaz Parvin Maleka, Anwaruzzaman Liton, Nuruzzaman Minto, Mohammad Shah Jalal Uddin, Swapan Khan, S. M. A. Mannan, Mrs. Suraiya Begum, and Mahbub Hossain Bijon.
