Bangladesh thrash Uzbekistan to secure final spot
Bangladesh national men's volleyball team secured the final spot of the ongoing CAVA Men's Volleyball Championship after outplaying Uzbekistan by 3-0 set on Tuesday at Liaquat Gymnasium in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The 19-member Bangladesh national men's volleyball team is participating in the CAVA Men's Volleyball Championship 2026, organised by the Pakistan Volleyball Federation and under the auspices of the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA), held in Islamabad, Pakistan from 22-29 July 2026. A total of 6 countries, including Bangladesh, are participating in the competition. The participating countries are - host Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
In the crucial first semifinal match on Tuesday, Bangladesh showed great confidence, disciplined team coordination and aggressive volleyball from the beginning. Keeping the opponent under control throughout the match, Bangladesh won three consecutive sets and secured a place in the final of the tournament with an impeccable 3-0 set victory.
With the victory, the Bangladesh Volleyball Team secured the final spot of the tournament. They will face either Pakistan of Sri Lanka in the final on Wednesday.
The Bangladesh Volleyball Federation sincerely congratulates the players, coaching staff and team officials on this extraordinary success of the national team. At the same time, the federation is expressing hope that the national team will maintain the same confidence, discipline, and fighting spirit in the finals and bring another glorious success for the country.
Earlier, Bangladesh national men's volleyball team beat Sri Lanka by 3-2 set to reach the semifinal of CAVA Men's Volleyball Championship held on Monday at the same venue.
In the highly competitive match on Monday, the Bangladesh national team showed extraordinary determination, strong morale and excellent team coordination to defeat Sri Lanka in 3-2 sets and claim their fourth victory in the tournament. Although they lost the first two sets by a narrow margin at the beginning of the match, Bangladesh made a great comeback and won the next three sets to secure victory.
Notably, Bangladesh started the tournament by defeating Uzbekistan 3-2 in the opening match on July 22. The next day, on July 23, they lost to host Pakistan in the second match, but the team bounced back and defeated Kazakhstan 3-2 in the third match on July 24 and Nepal 3-2 in the fourth match on July 26, 2026. Finally on Monday, by achieving another 3-2 win against Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh National Men's Volleyball Team added four important wins to their bag in the league stage.
